Great introduction to creating our new robotic overlords
By PATRICK DIJUSTO
This book contains everything you need to know to build a simple robot. The resulting mecha is a two-wheeled bot that can avoid obstacles, follow a path on the ground, and/or roam within a defined area. It can back itself out of dead ends, and it can operate autonomously or via remote control. It seems to be about as intelligent as a simple Roomba.
The author takes the reader through a step-by-step building process: first, assembling and controlling the motors, then controlling speed and direction, then attaching sensors that allow the robot to understand and interact with the environment around it. While the book is written clearly enough for absolute novices to follow along, I think that intermediate users will be much more comfortable.
One thing: The code is included in the book, but not a lot of time is spent explaining the code in great detail. This is not a flaw of the book -- as I said, the book seems to be aimed at people who at least know a bit about the Arduino and how it is programmed.

Good Intro to Arduino Robotics
By Michael Glasgow
This is a good intro book, but I was a bit disappointed about the depth. I was hoping for something a bit more in depth instead it just covers the construction of the two wheel and four wheel robots. If that's all you're looking for or want an intro book, this is great.

Simple how-to book with very little about why
By EngineerKevin
This book is written for a person who wants to do a project with very little explanation of why things work the way they do. It is difficult to learn concepts from this exercise.
