Shoddy Work--Don't Waste Your Money!

Do not buy this study guide. The content is full of typos, misspelled words, and just plain bad writing. The questions are nothing like the ones on the GACE exam, and there are no examples of the constructed response questions. I found mistakes (sometimes multiple mistakes) on 40 pages of this guide. And that's just on the pages I read; I couldn't get through the whole book. You are better off downloading the study materials from the GACE website.

Misleading!

I bought this book to help me prepare for the GACE. I am very surprised at the number of mistakes in the book! I first thought it was just a few typos, but Purvus Discrepancy Evalutation Model?? Really? It's PROVUS...
But that's not all. This exam is divided in 2 parts: 173 and 174.
173 is relatively well covered, but has nothing to help with the constructed-response part. 173 is divided in 2 sections: Facilitating change...(33% of the questions) and Promoting a positive school culture... (66% of the questions). The book covers the material but is so poorly labeled and organized!
174 is also divided into 2 sections: Managing the organization... (70% of the questions) and Collaborating and communicating with stakeholders... (30% of the questions). Only one of the objectives of the 1st section is covered, that's one out of 4 objectives! And that's the part of the exam that contains the MOST questions!! About 43 of the 60 questions of exam 174 ARE about Managing the organization! As far as the section on collaborating and communicating with stakeholders (17 questions), well it's inexistent. (Please refer to the official GACE website and read the test design and framework PDF to find those numbers)
I'm not quite sure how this book can even advertise as an adequate means to prepare for 174 when only one out of SEVEN objectives is covered!! That's insane!
I guess it's an OK book for 173, but it is a very disappointing and misleading book because it says it covers things it does not! For this price! I will now have to go buy another book to work on 174!

Buy this for Test Code 173 only!

I just got my test scores today and must say this book helped me- I passed! I failed the test code 173, the first time I took it. So I thought I would give this book a try and it did help. I would recommend this study guide since it mostly focuses on only one part of the test (code 173). Some people I have a graduate class with used this book and stated it was not worth the money. These people of course were talking about the test code 174. The section over test code 174, did not seem very informative; of course I passed that section anyways-but it seemed lacking in material. The book needs to improve more about Georgia law in education. That's why I give four stars out of five.
